The Irish Food Writing Awards, which take place on November 13th in the RDS Dublin, are delighted to announce Green Saffron as sponsor of their Writing on International Cuisines Award. This award encourages and rewards journalism and food writing on the great diversity of cooking in Ireland, both at home and in restaurants and is judged by British Indian food writer Romy Gill, one the many prestigious UK and International media who make up the judging panel, ensuring impartiality.
Established to acknowledge the highest achievements in books, journalism, restaurant critiques, feature writing, recipe writing, photography, podcasts and social media on Irish food and drink, the awards are now in their fifth year and take place in November in the RDS Dublin. https://www.irishfoodwritingawards.ie/.
"We have such a mixed, diverse array of cuisines in Ireland, both in restaurants and in home kitchens" says Arun Kapil, CEO and founder of Green Saffron. "It's so important to recognise excellence in food writing and storytelling - skills which help keep cultures alive. We are delighted at Green Saffron to sponsor the award of Best Writing on International Cuisines."
"It's wonderful to have Green Saffron sponsor this award" says Suzanne Campbell, founder of the Irish Food Writing Awards. "Green Saffron is a food company with great heritage - both as part of the Cork market scene and for bringing authentic spices sourced directly from farms in India into Ireland. We have long admired Arun Kapil and his passion for beautifully flavoured food, so it's lovely to have Green Saffron sponsoring the Writing on International Food awards".
Irish spice merchant Green Saffron is an Indian Spice business born in the food markets of County Cork. This month sees the multi-award winning Cork based, Irish company Green Saffron launching back into the world of retail. With an abundance of new products in its NPD cupboard, support from Musgraves, Supervalu and Tesco Ireland, a pivoted business with new distribution, robust infrastructure and targets set high, this ambitious company has lost none of vibrant spice attitude.
“We took a step back during the pandemic, Brexit and energy crises,” says CEO Arun Kapil, “ But, like many of our fellow Irish-food businesses, we dug in and with the steadfast support of our backers, we held our own. We focussed on our unique back-to-farm supply chain, doubling down on all of its links to guarantee its true and robust nature.”
Green Saffron works within farming communities in India to guarantee it sources only truly sustainable, ethically produced, new season crop, single origin spices. They produce the best, 100% natural Indian ‘desi’ spice mixes and sauces to help consumers make authentic Indian meals of immense flavour at home.
For too long, the global giants of spice have been sourcing spices from all over the world, grown across different seasons, before they’re milled and blended on an industrial scale and warehoused for months and sometimes years. Green Saffron is banishing the bland and cleaning out the old spice cupboard, replacing it with vibrant sparks of beautiful, fresh flavour to turn up the taste for lovers of spice and Indian sauces. This is modern India at its very best…
The brand has global ambition. Focussing on Ireland, expanding into the UK and mainland Europe are all part of our journey ahead. Our supply chain is the backbone of our business; we’re actively growing our network of dedicated farmers, pushing agendas and breaking sustainable, climate-friendly barriers. Rooted in soil health and re-gen spice farming we are only just scraping the surface of our mission, the Green Saffron ‘Fresh Spice’ Promise, setting the Gold Standard for spice sourcing. Onward!"
